BANDAI Dragon Ball Z CLEARISE Super Saiyan Gotenks Figure Review

The Dragon Ball Z universe is packed with iconic characters, and Gotenks—the fusion of Goten and Trunks—remains a fan favorite for his cocky attitude and devastating techniques. When BANDAI announced a CLEARISE figure dedicated to Super Saiyan Gotenks, collectors knew it would be something special. In this review, we'll take a close look at the BANDAI Dragon Ball Z CLEARISE Super Saiyan Gotenks BANPRESTO figure, examining its sculpt, paint application, pose, and overall value.

Whether you're a seasoned collector or just starting your Dragon Ball Z figure journey, this review will help you decide if this CLEARISE release deserves a spot on your shelf. We'll also compare it to other figures in the same line and offer tips on where to find it.

Unboxing and First Impressions

The BANDAI Dragon Ball Z CLEARISE Super Saiyan Gotenks arrives in a standard window box that showcases the figure beautifully. The packaging is compact but sturdy, with vibrant artwork featuring Gotenks in his Super Saiyan form. Inside, the figure is secured with plastic shell, and assembly is minimal—just attach the base if included. The first thing you'll notice is the dynamic pose: Gotenks is captured mid-action, ready to unleash a Ghost Kamikaze Attack or a Super Ghost Kamikaze. The sculpt is sharp, with detailed muscle definition and the iconic fusion vest.

The CLEARISE line is known for its translucent effects, and this figure doesn't disappoint. The hair, in particular, features a subtle clear gradient that mimics the energy of Super Saiyan transformation. The face is expressive, capturing Gotenks' confident smirk. The paint application is clean, with no noticeable overspray or sloppy edges. Overall, the first impression is highly positive, and the figure feels premium despite its affordable price point.

• Check for any loose joints or defects upon arrival.
• The box is collector-friendly if you prefer to keep it in packaging.

Sculpt and Paint Quality

One of the standout features of this figure is the sculpt. The CLEARISE series focuses on capturing characters in dynamic poses with a high level of detail, and Gotenks is no exception. The muscular build is well-proportioned, and the fusion vest has intricate folds and shading. The face sculpt is particularly impressive, with a determined expression that matches Gotenks' personality. The hair is the highlight, with a clear plastic base and yellow paint that creates a glowing effect, especially when light hits it.

The paint application is generally excellent. The skin tones are natural, and the orange and blue of the vest are vibrant. The clear parts are well-integrated, and there are no visible seams or rough edges. The base, if included, is simple but effective, featuring the Dragon Ball Z logo. While the figure is not super articulated, the dynamic pose more than compensates, making it a great display piece.

• Use a soft, dry cloth to dust the figure; avoid water on the clear parts.
• Display away from direct sunlight to prevent yellowing of clear plastic.

Comparison with Other Dragon Ball Z Figures

When compared to other Dragon Ball Z figures in the same price range, the CLEARISE Super Saiyan Gotenks holds its own. The sculpt rivals more expensive figures like those from the S.H.Figuarts line, though it lacks the articulation. For collectors who prioritize display over playability, this is an excellent choice. In terms of value, it's comparable to other BANPRESTO offerings, which are known for their quality-to-price ratio.

If you're looking to expand your Dragon Ball Z collection, you might also consider the Blokees Evangelion Miracle Connection Q-Style Figure Blind Box for a different series, or the TNT DORA “An Ideal World” Blind Box Figure for a unique art style. However, for a classic Dragon Ball Z character, this CLEARISE figure is a must-have. Its dynamic pose and clear effects make it stand out on any shelf.

• Consider pairing with other CLEARISE figures for a cohesive display.
• Check out other BANPRESTO lines like G×materia for more detailed sculpts.
